Values & Vision

We seek to be a vibrant, multiplying church who lives out the
Greatest Commandment and the Great Commission.

At H2O,

Jesus is our message.

Scripture is our foundation.

Prayer is our posture.

Authentic relationships make up our church.

The college campus is our focus.

Justice is our charge.

Sending is our passion.

Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). We dream of that abundant life breaking out in the hearts of those who call Western Michigan University and the Kalamazoo area home.

We dream of men and women in every generation being caught up in this redemptive adventure and living sent as disciples who make disciples.

We Dream of Showing People Jesus

We believe there is no greater life than to know and love Jesus forever. We invite others into this fullness of life with Jesus by sharing the Good News and leading them to live as lifelong disciples who love and obey Jesus (Matthew 13:1-9, 31-33, 28:18-20, Romans 10:14-17). We are believing God to spark revival at WMU as people encounter the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

We dream of raising up disciple-making disciples

We long for others to see what it means to belong and to be the church (Acts 2:42-47, 4:32-35). Our hope is to be a diverse church family that reflects the beauty of God’s Kingdom (Revelation 5:9-10). We invest in college students through living life together, multi-generational discipleship, and gospel-centered teaching. We desire for each person to be a disciple that makes disciples.

We dream of living out God’s heart for justice

We know that God cares about all of the injustice in the world (Psalm 33:5). We will encourage and equip people to use their gifts, passions, and abilities to engage in the fight against the issues found in our community. As a church, we have chosen to focus on the two particular evils of sexual assault and racial injustice. We seek to equip our church body and be teamed up with WMU to bring justice and healing in these areas. Our church will continue to listen, learn, and love as we contend against these injustices.

We dream of sending

IMG_1121.JPG

We want to be a church that sees the world’s need for Jesus and sends out workers into the harvest fields (Matthew 9:35-38, John 20:21). Every Sunday is a sending Sunday that reminds us all to live sent in our dorms, homes, neighborhoods, and circles of influence. Every year, through graduations, career changes, and family moves we send disciples on to new works with Jesus all over the world. We long to send new missionaries into vocational ministry and church-planting. Since church-planting is one of the most effective ways to spread the gospel, we strive to send out teams of people to start new churches in college towns.

We are a people with the greatest news the world has ever heard. Through the Holy Spirit, we have access to the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. We walk in the love of the Father, a love that knows no bounds. Therefore, we dream that the whole world would be caught up in the redemptive adventure of following Jesus.
